Maelstrom VS. Frozen Ride Norways frozen ride going to be replaced by a... well... Frozen: The Ride?
Posted: 8/8/24
So alot of buzz has been going around on the discussion boards about whether or not the Norway Pavilion will be getting a new ride... by losing a classic.
Maelstrom is a classic Epcot ride that is set in Norway and tells about some of Norway's folklore through a water type ride where you sit in viking ships. Through out the journey you meet (and anger) trolls, Norwegian gods, and a polar bear. At the end of the ride their theatre area they show a (obviously dated) film of Norway and its history.
Although the ride isn't as "state of the art" as some WDW rides it is still one of Epcot's 3 E-ticket rides. Sadly with Frozen's current popularity, its home in Epcot has been compromised.
Although Arendelle was not solely based on Norway, the Frozen town may be soon living in a gutted out version of Maelstrom.
Depending on the budget the whole ride from the inner walls to the track might be thrown out to make a new trackless ride vehicle like the upcoming Ratatouille ride at Disneyland Paris. Although if it has a low budget to remake the ride... Well that would leave us with the same water ride. The trolls and Norwegian gods would be gone to make way for completely new sets and thats about all.
Although there is no concrete evidence that this is happening multiple Disney executives have hinted to a Frozen themed ride. Lets just hope that Disney puts it where it belongs: Hollywood Studios.
