Certain rides at Walt Disney World are known for their extremely painful lines, and nothing is worse than a boring queue am I right? Although a boring queue isn't always the worst thing about a queue, in blistering Florida heat you NEED air conditioning in long queues or at least a fan. So read on if you want to find out the top three worst queues at Walt Disney World.
Anyone in the Disney Fandom knows about the MANY acronyms that have been made for WDW <---Exhibit A. From an acronym for parks to rides to parades anyone can be confused at first glance. The first time I saw PotC it took 3 minutes before I realized that it meant Pirates of the Caribbean. Not to mention there is little to now where on the internet where you can find what obscure Disney acronyms mean, so I decided to make this. The WDW Acronym Dictionary
Avatarland: A new land currently being built after the hit movie Avatar and specifically the mythical land Pandora which is seen in the movie.
Beastly Kingdom: A planned land for Animal Kingdom that would have been if it had not been cut because of the budget. Obviously there is nothing anyone (except Walt himself) can do to stop construction of Avatarland, and with all of the planned (not confirmed) projects in Disney's future little will probably be done with the concept of Beastly Kingdom but, I would like to spend some time explaining the good and the bad with each land, and find a victor (in my mind) between the two. Beastly Kingdom Pros: You don't have to have seen one certain movie to understand this kingdom, dragons and other mythical creatures can already be found in signs, benches, fountains, and more in Animal Kingdom, fits with all audiences, would make Animal Kingdom a full day park, and it has many possible attractions (Click here to see some). Cons: High budget, would be controversial as to whether or not it will fit into Animal Kingdom (seeing as the animals are mythic), currently not planned, would have to be built far into the future. Avatarland Pros: Should bring in plenty of money for Disney, will help bring more people into Animal Kingdom and make it a "full day park", will defiantly help get some new E-Ticket rides into Animal Kingdom, will not lead to another "Harry Potter" mistake, and has many possible attractions. Cons: It is a PG-13 movie which may end up confusing younger kids seeing as they may not have seen the movie, costs alot of money to make, controversial as to whether or not it fits in Animal Kingdom, will be a hit or miss with Disney fans (Such as Dinoland U.S.A. is), seeing as it is based after a movie that is currently creating sequels could cause for a harder job with imagineers. All in all I think that at the current time Avatarland is the better of the two lands but, in the long run it would definitely be a smart idea on Disney's part to add a few mythical creatures in what could possibly be a mini land. If you have an idea for a land comment down below! Personally I like the idea of Bookland! 5 out of 5 stars
This is DEFIANTLY one of the best (if not the best) restaurants in Walt Disney World. When you step inside you are transported into the 50's were elbows are kept off the table and you make sure you eat your vegetables! My cousin learned that the hard way when they actually refused to give him dessert until he had at least some of his vegetables. He was 17 at the time and it took 10 minutes until he ate one bite. Anyways the restaurant comes complete with your distant aunts, uncles, and cousins (the wait staff) who cook you up a nice home cooked meal. Nearly all of the tables have small TV screens next to them or above them which play black and white TV shows- including the original Mickey Mouse Club- complete with severely old Coke-a-Cola commercials. The food is nothing less than delicious and has never been a let down. I mean somehow they make collared greens taste good. How is that possible?!?! But, if you ask me the absolute best food that they make is the fried chicken. The kids menu is one of few anywhere that actually seems to have a variety and the light up non-alcholic drinks for kids are always a big hit and they don't have to be just for little ones. Strawberry Lemonade with light up Tinkerbell anyone? All in all this restaurant is a must with walk ins 99% of the time. Of course always play it on the safe side and get a reservation. You don't want to be that 1 percent! The Yankee Trader shop is no more... well sort of.
The Yankee Trader shop will never again be The Yankee Trader shop, instead, it is currently being refurbished to become a new Haunted Mansion themed gift shop. If you click here you will be able to see some of the wonderful new merchandise that Disney will be selling in the gift shop. Over 100 new merchandise items have been created all with the theme of the Haunted Mansion. Sadly, we all have to wait a while to buy the items. The new Haunted Mansion themed shop's opening has been pushed back from a September opening to December 31st. If you want to buy some of the wonderful items online you have to wait even longer, because the items will not be appearing online for about a month or two after the shops opening. If there is an item you would love to see in the collection comment down below! I know I would love to see anything with the Hatbox Ghost! 8/9/14 By: Tri On July 30th, the same queuing process which was tested on the Anna and Elsa 'Meet and Greet' was tested on Soarin'. This new procedure could cause a lot of issues if Disney does decide to use it for the Soarin' queue or another attractions queue in the future. To start off this basically defeats the whole purpose of MyMagic. The process brings paper fastpasses (Technically standby+ passes) back into play after the machines which gave them out were ripped out of the ground. What happened is that guests who wanted to ride Soarin' or meet Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall would go to the queue and be greeted by CM's who gave them a paper ticket with a return time for some point in the day with a 30 minute return period. The problem is, the day it was tried all tickets were given out by 5:00 p.m. and guests staying at WDW were not given any notice of the new procedure, so people were still coming to ride Soarin' near the end of the day only to be told that no one else could ride without a ticket. If Disney does incorporate this so called standyby+ to the Soarin' queue people will supposedly never again wait more than 30 minutes in line for Soarin'. The problem with that? Lines to get the tickets were at times just as long as the 30 minute line to actually ride Soarin'! So what are your thoughts about this (possibly) new proced Imagine it, you are zipping through space, until your... well... not. The music is still playing the lights are still off but the rocket you are riding in seems to be out of fuel. The other people in the ride vehicle with you are slightly scared... okay they were freaking out and asking my family if we would call 9-1-1 (Don't laugh... okay do it was hilarious). Anyways 5 minutes pass and you have yet to move. That happy little voice has been over the intercom instructing you to stay inside of the ride vehicle. Twice. 10 minutes pass. Then 15. Then bright lights fill the space. The lights have been turned on inside the mountain! At this point I was in Disney awe thinking how unique and amazing this experience was. I kind of had to laugh though. The ground was relatively clean minus what seemed to be like a bazillion hair scrunchies. Finally a cast member came about and instructed us to remain seated. He left for a few more minutes while I gawked at the metal skeleton of Space Mountain. Lets just say this: Give Imagineers props because they can fit alot of track in such a relatively small building. When the CM came back he announced that since we were at the top of the last hill they were going to push the ride vehicle down the hill and use momentum to propel us to the end of the ride. The CM did just that pushing our vehicle down the hill and through the last tunnel (the lights were pulsing neon lights were off but regular lights were on). Now the funny part -other funny part- was that once we made it to the unloading dock the bars that keep you in place during the ride... didn't release. So for about ten more minutes we were stuck their waiting for them to figure out how to let us out of the vehicle. Needless to say when the restraint bars released everyone ran at top speed out of the building. Okay, so quick synopsis of the two rides:
Splash mountain is quite possibly one of the most classically Disney rides in history. It follows the journey of Br'er Rabbit from the classic Disney movie "Song of the South". During this water flume ride you will greet over 60 animatronics and go over a five story drop known as Chikapin Hill and into the Brier Patch. This amazing journey clocks in at 11 minutes. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is another amazing Disney creation that follows a runaway mine train through "The wildest ride in the wilderness." During the ride you race through mines and over mountain ranges. This wild ride takes roughly 3 minutes. Okay so Splash Mountain wins on length of ride, story, and biggest drop (My most important category) . Big Thunder Mountain Railroad wins with jerkiness (My homemade technical term) and So in my opinion Splash mountain takes the cake. It momentarily will win a crown until my next battle of the coasters. Maelstrom VS. Frozen Ride Norways frozen ride going to be replaced by a... well... Frozen: The Ride?8/8/2014 Posted: 8/8/24
So alot of buzz has been going around on the discussion boards about whether or not the Norway Pavilion will be getting a new ride... by losing a classic. Maelstrom is a classic Epcot ride that is set in Norway and tells about some of Norway's folklore through a water type ride where you sit in viking ships. Through out the journey you meet (and anger) trolls, Norwegian gods, and a polar bear. At the end of the ride their theatre area they show a (obviously dated) film of Norway and its history. Although the ride isn't as "state of the art" as some WDW rides it is still one of Epcot's 3 E-ticket rides. Sadly with Frozen's current popularity, its home in Epcot has been compromised. Although Arendelle was not solely based on Norway, the Frozen town may be soon living in a gutted out version of Maelstrom. Depending on the budget the whole ride from the inner walls to the track might be thrown out to make a new trackless ride vehicle like the upcoming Ratatouille ride at Disneyland Paris. Although if it has a low budget to remake the ride... Well that would leave us with the same water ride. The trolls and Norwegian gods would be gone to make way for completely new sets and thats about all. Although there is no concrete evidence that this is happening multiple Disney executives have hinted to a Frozen themed ride. Lets just hope that Disney puts it where it belongs: Hollywood Studios. |
